My best photosThese are the shots that I like best. Some may be duplicated in other categories, but these are my favorites - so they get double billing.

Scenery

bo_img_1132.jpg

Great beauty can be found by simply having the right mindset and taking the time to gaze about you and appreciate it. Once you can do this, then you will be less dependent on material things and others to make you happy. Well, that is my theory anyway.

Places

bo_img_1411.jpg

I figured I may have some neat photos of places... So here they are. I will be reviewing my old collection and moving forth with more as time allows.

The everchanging sky

bo_img_1119.jpg

I've taken a liking to clouds lately. I don't know why, but I can always look up and get some amount of joy by appreciating the white on blue of the clouds. I've gotten some good photos of clouds and hope this will lead others to spend a bit more time looking skyward and being happy.

Night photography

img_0106.jpg

Getting workable photos in very dark situations is not as easy as one might think. Unless you just want the foreground you can not use a flash. If you don't have a flash, a tripod is a must. Sometimes you can get away with holding the camera on something or bracing your arms.

Making a hole

img_2902.jpg

Well, a hole is a hole... A house is a hole you throw money into and a house grows out of it.

Framing and stuff

img_3001.jpg

Two guys, a nail gun and a few saws... in less than three weeks these guys had the roof on, start to finish. Nice guys too... friendly and all. This was very exciting for us to watch.

Painting

img_3010.jpg

Well, since we wanted to save money we took on paiting the interiors. We got some good paint and have been gathering up friends. How long will it take to do? Who knows. Hopefully we will not live to regret the decision to DIY this part of the project!

Our furry friends

Kitties009.jpg

Between the three of us, we have four cats, a dog, a fish and until recently a hamster. These are mostly all our pets, but may also have one or two of friends or families pets in here also.

May 2003 - Becket Trip

106_0620.JPG

My big issue here is that there are no photos of the Norman Rockwell Museum. Its a great place to see once. Beware the horde of little old ladies who have been cybernetically enhanced to detect cameras being used anywhere in the museum. I kid you not. Try getting a photo of something inside there. I took one of the bathroom and they were busting down the door... luckly I had already zipped up.

Aug 2004 - My birthday at Session Woods

img_1011.jpg

When they asked me what I wanted to do for my birthday - I got us all out and back into the woods. Session Woods (in Burlington, CT) has some nice trails (very level) and some nice views. Don't bother looking for the beaver damn - I think its gone.

Misc - Just don't fit anywhere

105_0552.JPG

If I made a category for every photo I would have lots of categories and albums with one photo each. So here is anything that is all alone in one big lump. Mind you some people may not appreciate the photos that end up in here, but its all about the love. Peace all.

Panthorn Park trails day 2005

img_2183.jpg

Southington puts on a trails day at one of the parks in town. Its a great time since its a single price for admission, and the kids can run rampant after that. Suprisingly I had very few complaints about how it worked out there. Haley had a great time, but next year I think we need to drink more water (or find more shade!)

Aug 2004 - Sculptured Rocks (N.H.)

img_1108.jpg

This was one of the cooler natural things I have ever seen. Over thousands of years the river carved out a deep chasm into the seemingly endless rock here. Lots of shapes you don't see occuring often. Next time I will have to go swimming.

Jul 2004 - Block Island with TC

img_0906.jpg

This was a weekend trip to Block Island, with a very very foggy return trip. When we left you could see only about 100 feet or so. Once your far enough away from anything you have no idea what the visability really is. We also hiked about 8 miles around the island on saturday to get all these great shots.

Jun 2004 - Watch Hill with the Nagles

img_0686.jpg

These crazy kids had a great time. Although it was a bit foggy leaving and some idiot in a powerboat almost whacked into us in the fog, it was nice once we got to Watch Hill.

Sept 2004 - Mandala Sand Painting at Wesleyan

img_1238.jpg

Tibetan Monks from the Drepung Loseling Monestary created a mandala during a four day ceremony. I had missed the previous visit and was extremely happy to be able to view this one in person. It was an incredible thing to see. The entire composition is created by dropping grains of sand onto the table. In the end the monks swept up the colored sand and led a procession to the nearby Connecticut river where the sand was dispended.

Fine woodworking

img_1020.jpg

These are little strange things made out of wood. I guess a good way to differentiate between fine woodworking and the others is that, in general, you do not use a hammer all that much to make this sort of thing
